Course overview
This course provides a comprehensive, practical examination of the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) audit process for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Through a central case study (ACME Pty Ltd) and multiple supplementary scenarios, participants will follow an end-to-end audit journey from initial ATO contact through to finalisation. The course highlights common SME audit triggers, demonstrates how different audit scenarios are managed, and shows how professional actions can influence outcomes and penalties.

- Identify common audit triggers and high-risk compliance areas for SMEs across various industries.

- Examine how different scenarios (cash economy, GST errors, FBT oversights, contractor misclassification, late super payments) are handled within ATO audits.
